**New Delhi, January 27, 2025** – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto concluded a four-day state visit to India, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and highlighting the deep historical and cultural ties between the two nations. During a banquet hosted in his honor by President Droupadi Murmu, President Subianto revealed that a recent DNA test revealed Indian ancestry, further emphasizing the strong connections between the two countries.

“Everybody knows when I hear Indian music, I start dancing,” President Subianto remarked, underscoring the cultural influence of India on Indonesia. He specifically lauded Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in poverty alleviation and support for marginalized communities, stating that he had learned much from Modi’s leadership.

The visit, which included attendance at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations as Chief Guest, resulted in the signing and renewal of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These agreements cover diverse areas, including health cooperation, traditional medicine, and maritime security. The MoUs were signed between relevant ministries and agencies from both countries.

President Subianto expressed his pride in visiting India and wished the nation “prosperity, peace, and greatness” in the coming years. He also voiced his desire to continue strengthening the partnership between Indonesia and India. His delegation included several Indonesian ministers, senior officials, and business representatives.
