Mon Jan 27 05:30:38 IST 2025: ## India Celebrates US Supreme Court Decision to Extradite 26/11 Plotter
**New Delhi, January 27 (ANI)** – Union Minister Piyush Goyal lauded the US Supreme Court’s decision paving the way for the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, convicted in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, to India. Goyal hailed the ruling as a victory for the 1.4 billion people of India, stating that the country had long sought justice for the victims of the 26/11 attacks, which killed 174 people and injured over 300.
The minister criticized the previous UPA government for its perceived inaction following the attacks, contrasting it with the current government’s efforts to secure Rana’s extradition. He attributed the success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong international relationships and commended the collaborative efforts between India and the US.
The decision marks a significant step towards bringing Rana to justice in India for his role in the devastating attacks on Mumbai’s Taj Hotel and other locations. Goyal expressed confidence in India’s ability to hold terrorists accountable, asserting that “India is capable of bringing any terrorist or terrorist nation to justice.”
