Mon Jan 27 11:21:01 IST 2025: ## Hockey Legend Sreejesh Awarded Padma Bhushan, Ashwin Receives Padma Shri

**NEW DELHI** – India’s celebrated hockey goalkeeper, PR Sreejesh, has been awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced Saturday. Sreejesh, instrumental in India’s Olympic bronze medal wins at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, joins a list of 19 Padma Bhushan recipients for 2025.

The announcement also revealed that cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, footballer IM Vijayan, para-archer Harvinder Singh, and Satyapal Singh will receive the Padma Shri. A total of 139 Padma Awards were approved by President Droupadi Murmu, encompassing seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards. These coveted civilian awards recognize exceptional and distinguished service across various fields, including sports, art, social work, and science. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in March or April 2025.
