Mon Jan 27 06:36:42 UTC 2025: ## Maoists Kill Civilian in Chhattisgarh, Claiming He Was an Informer

**Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, January 27, 2025** – Maoist rebels murdered a 41-year-old man in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday, January 26, 2025, accusing him of leaking information about their activities. Police reported that Bhadru Sodhi was attacked with an axe at his home in Keshamundi Village. A Maoist pamphlet found at the scene labelled Sodhi a traitor and claimed his involvement with the disbanded Salwa Judum militia.

This killing follows a similar incident on January 16th, where a 48-year-old man was killed in the Mirtur area under suspicion of being a police informer. Police attribute these attacks to the Maoists’ frustration stemming from ongoing anti-Maoist operations and the loss of key strongholds to security forces. According to police, 68 civilians were killed in the Bastar region last year due to Maoist violence. A search operation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators. The incident highlights the ongoing conflict and the targeting of innocent civilians by the Maoist group.
