Mon Jan 27 12:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Kia Recalls Over 80,000 Niro EVs and Hybrids Due to Wiring Flaw
**Atlanta, GA (March 2025)** – Kia America is recalling 80,255 Niro electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid vehicles from the 2023-2025 model years due to a potential wiring issue under the front passenger seat. The faulty wiring could prevent airbags and seatbelts from deploying correctly in a crash, and may even cause unintended side curtain airbag deployment.
Dealers will inspect and repair the affected wiring, rerouting and adding protective covers as needed, free of charge. Kia will notify owners by mail in March. This recall follows a November recall by Hyundai and Kia affecting over 200,000 electric vehicles for a separate charging system issue. Owners are urged to contact their Kia dealer for further information.
