Sun Jan 26 15:46:08 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Governor Highlights State’s Economic Growth and Success of Guarantee Schemes

**Bengaluru, January 26, 2025** – Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot lauded the state’s robust economic performance and the successful implementation of its five flagship guarantee schemes during the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Bengaluru. He cited a 13% year-on-year growth, with revenue collection reaching ₹1.81 lakh crore by December 2024.

Gehlot emphasized that Karnataka’s economic growth has been achieved while simultaneously prioritizing social justice, directly addressing concerns about rising economic inequality. He defended the five guarantees – Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, Shakti, Anna Bhagya, and farm loan waivers – against initial criticism, stating that their implementation has refuted predictions of financial crisis and has instead garnered national attention.

The Governor provided figures illustrating the impact of the schemes: ₹35,180 crore disbursed under Gruha Lakshmi, ₹13,409 crore in Gruha Jyothi subsidies benefiting 1.62 crore consumers, ₹9,051 crore allocated for Shakti (with 373 crore trips by women), and ₹9,775 crore transferred via DBT under Anna Bhagya to 4.48 crore beneficiaries.

Furthermore, Karnataka led the nation in overall exports, with $88,853 million between April and September 2024-2025, a growth of 11.17%. The Governor highlighted significant investments in infrastructure and social welfare programs, including the disbursement of ₹15,612 crore in short-term agricultural loans to 18.51 lakh farmers and ₹1,165 crore in medium and long-term loans to 39,000 farmers.

Gehlot concluded by reaffirming Karnataka’s commitment to the principles of federalism and its dedication to inclusive and holistic development. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was among the dignitaries present at the Republic Day celebrations, which included a parade and cultural performances.
