**Chennai, January 27, 2025** – Jasprit Bumrah has been named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test Cricketer of the Year for 2024. The announcement was made at the ICC awards ceremony on Monday. The Indian pace bowler dominated the bowling charts with an impressive 71 wickets throughout the year, significantly outpacing second-placed Gus Atkinson of England (52 wickets).
Bumrah’s exceptional performance included a remarkable average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.1. His achievements also included reaching the 200-Test wicket milestone during India’s tour of Australia, becoming the only bowler with at least 200 dismissals to maintain an average under 20 (currently 19.4). He was instrumental in India’s success in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, securing 32 wickets in five Tests and earning the Player of the Series award. Earlier in the year, he also claimed 19 wickets during England’s five-Test tour of India.
Bumrah’s accolades extend beyond the individual award; he was also selected for the ICC Test Team of the Year alongside fellow Indians Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravindra Jadeja. The team is captained by Australia’s Pat Cummins.
