**MUMBAI, INDIA** – Jasprit Bumrah has been named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year for 2024. The award, announced today, recognizes Bumrah’s exceptional performance throughout the year, where he claimed a remarkable 71 wickets in 13 Test matches at an average of 14.92.

Bumrah’s stellar performance included a dominant showing in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he topped the wicket charts with 32 wickets despite India losing the series. His impressive form was consistent across both home and away matches, playing a crucial role in India’s Test series victories against England and Bangladesh at home, and showcasing strong performances against South Africa and Australia overseas.

This prestigious accolade marks Bumrah as the sixth Indian cricketer to receive the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award, following in the footsteps of Rahul Dravid (2004), Gautam Gambhir (2009), Virender Sehwag (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2018). The award returns to India after a six-year hiatus, with Kohli being the last recipient in 2018. India now ties with Australia for the most wins in this category, both nations boasting six awards each. Only Steve Smith (2015, 2017) has won the award twice.

The announcement comes ahead of India’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan next month. Bumrah’s achievement provides a significant boost to the team’s morale.
