**New Delhi** – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto revealed a surprising familial connection to India during a state banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday. Attending India’s Republic Day celebrations as Chief Guest, Subianto announced that a recent DNA test revealed he possesses Indian DNA. The revelation, made amidst laughter from dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, further cemented the already strong ties between the two nations.
“A few weeks ago I had my genetic sequencing test and my DNA test and they told me that I have Indian DNA,” Subianto stated. He further linked this discovery to his affinity for Indian music and culture, playfully adding, “Everybody knows when I hear Indian music, I start dancing.”

The three-day visit concluded with the signing and renewal of five Memoranda of Understanding between India and Indonesia covering areas such as health, traditional medicine, and maritime security. Subianto’s delegation included several ministers, senior officials, and a business delegation. The Indonesian Military Academy’s 190-member Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta ensemble also performed, showcasing Indonesian military tradition. Subianto concluded his visit by expressing his desire to strengthen the friendship and partnership between Indonesia and India.
