**New Delhi, January 25th** – India announced the recipients of the prestigious Padma Awards for 2025 on the eve of its 76th Republic Day. President Droupadi Murmu will confer 139 awards, comprising 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri, recognizing exceptional and distinguished service across various fields.
This year’s honorees include a notable 23 women, 10 individuals from the NRI/PIO/OCI/foreigner communities, and 13 posthumous recipients. Among the recipients is Mamta Kulkarni, the former Bollywood actress, who received the award posthumously after recently renouncing her film career to embrace a spiritual life.
The Padma Awards, presented annually, are conferred based on recommendations from a committee appointed by the Prime Minister. The awards acknowledge contributions across all disciplines that have significantly impacted public service.
