Mon Jan 27 00:31:11 IST 2025: ## India Cruises to 8-Wicket Victory Over Bangladesh in U19 Women’s T20 World Cup

**Cape Town, South Africa:** India’s U19 women’s cricket team secured a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Bangladesh in a Super Six match of the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday. A stellar bowling performance restricted Bangladesh to a paltry 64/8, their lowest score in the tournament, before India chased down the target in a mere 7.1 overs, losing only two wickets.

Opener Trisha Gongadi led the charge for India with a 40-run knock off 31 balls. Vaishnavi Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for India, while Shabnam Shakil, Joshitha V J, and Gongadi herself each claimed a wicket. Bangladesh captain Sumaiya Akter top-scored with 21 runs, offering some late resistance but ultimately unable to prevent a comprehensive defeat.

India’s disciplined bowling attack applied consistent pressure, preventing Bangladesh from building any significant partnerships. The Bangladesh innings was marked by early wickets and struggles with run-scoring, although Akter’s innings provided some stability towards the end. Despite reaching 34 runs in a mid-innings phase, Bangladesh never recovered from a poor start, ultimately falling well short of a competitive total.

India’s chase was a display of effortless dominance. Their batting lineup, largely untested in the tournament so far, showcased their strength, comfortably reaching the target with plenty of overs to spare. Sanika Chalke, speaking after the match, praised the team’s bowling performance and expressed confidence in their ability to chase down the modest total.

This victory further solidifies India’s position in the tournament and highlights the strength of their young squad. The impressive win comes as a result of both dominant bowling and a composed chase, solidifying their status as a strong contender for the title.
