**New Delhi, India** – India has secured a significant deal to export BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Indonesia, valued at approximately ₹3,800 crore (USD 450 million). This follows a state visit by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to India from January 23-26, during which he attended Republic Day celebrations as the chief guest.

The agreement marks a major step in strengthening bilateral defense cooperation between the two nations. Discussions also included potential collaboration on aircraft carrier construction, with Indonesian officials expressing keen interest in India’s expertise in this area. India is one of the few countries capable of building aircraft carriers indigenously.

This export follows a successful delivery of BrahMos missiles to the Philippines, further solidifying the missile system’s international appeal. Several other Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern countries have also shown interest in the India-Russia joint venture.

During President Subianto’s visit, both countries signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) across various sectors including health, maritime cooperation, traditional medicine, digital development, and cultural exchange. Further cooperation was also agreed upon in energy, critical minerals, and science and technology.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted Indonesia’s importance as a partner in the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions, emphasizing both nations’ commitment to peace, security, and a rules-based order. The deal underscores India’s growing role as a major defense exporter and its strengthening ties with key partners in the Indo-Pacific.
