**New Delhi, India** – India and Indonesia have pledged to significantly bolster their defence cooperation, with India offering support for Indonesia’s modernization efforts through technology sharing and expertise. This commitment was announced following a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations.

A joint statement released Sunday highlighted the ratification of a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), signaling a deepening of defence ties. President Subianto praised India’s advancements in domestic defence manufacturing and expressed keen interest in expanding collaboration in this sector, utilizing the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) as a key platform.

Discussions regarding Indonesia’s potential acquisition of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system have reportedly yielded a broad understanding on pricing, with estimates placing the deal at approximately $450 million.

Beyond defence, the two nations reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability, emphasizing freedom of navigation and lawful maritime commerce in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS. They voiced support for the full implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea and advocated for the early adoption of a substantive Code of Conduct aligned with international law.

Both countries condemned terrorism in all its forms and reiterated their commitment to combating it through bilateral and multilateral initiatives. They stressed the importance of global efforts to eliminate terror financing and prevent the recruitment of terrorists.

Furthermore, India and Indonesia agreed to enhance cooperation in emerging technologies, building on a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on digital development focusing on digital public infrastructure, capacity building, and cybersecurity. The visit marks a significant milestone in the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
