**Chennai, January 26:** Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has hailed Tilak Varma as a future all-format star for India following his match-winning performance in the second T20I against England. Varma’s unbeaten 72 off 55 balls steered India to a thrilling two-wicket victory in Chennai on Saturday.
Rayudu, speaking to Star Sports, emphasized Varma’s maturity and ability to adapt his game, shifting from aggressive stroke play to a composed finishing role as wickets fell around him. “I feel India has got a huge superstar, and he can become an all-format player,” Rayudu stated. “Considering the maturity he showed, he has the ability to be a match-winner for India for many years. He should be backed in every format.”
Varma’s recent form has been exceptional, amassing 318 runs since his last T20I dismissal, including two centuries. Rayudu credits this success to the confidence shown in him by captain Suryakumar Yadav, saying Varma is “repaying it fully.”
The 22-year-old will look to continue his impressive run in the third T20I against England in Rajkot on Tuesday, where India aims to clinch the series.
