**New Delhi, January 27, 2025** – Delhi Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena appealed to Delhi residents on Sunday to cast their votes in the upcoming February 5th Assembly elections, urging them to resist what he termed “publicity-managed consent or dissent.” In his Republic Day address, Mr. Saxena stressed the importance of independent decision-making, cautioning voters against external pressures and urging them to discern right from wrong.
The LG highlighted the significant impact of the election on Delhi’s future, stating that the next government’s policies on crucial issues such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and environmental concerns like air pollution and Yamuna river cleaning, would directly depend on the electorate’s choices. He emphasized that voting day is not a holiday but a civic duty.
This appeal follows Chief Minister Atishi’s Republic Day address on Saturday, where she highlighted the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the past decade in improving schools, healthcare, and power supply. The upcoming elections promise a close contest between the AAP and other parties vying for control of the Delhi Assembly.
