HYDERABAD, INDIA – A fireworks display during the closing ceremony of a Mahaharati event at Hussain Sagar Lake resulted in a fire that injured five people and destroyed two boats. The incident occurred around 9 pm on [Date of incident – this information is missing from the text].
According to reports, five assistants were setting off fireworks from a jetty connected to a boat on the lake. A rocket malfunctioned, igniting nearby fireworks and causing a blaze. The five individuals jumped into the water to escape the flames.
One person, identified as Ganapati, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad in critical condition. The four others received minor injuries and were taken to Gandhi Hospital.
Central Minister Kishan Reddy visited the injured in the hospital. The incident occurred shortly after Governor Jishnudev Varma and other dignitaries left the event.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. The two boats involved were completely destroyed.
