**Loughborough, Leicestershire, January 26, 2025** – Charnwood Borough Council has issued flood alerts for several areas, warning residents of potential flooding due to heavy rain forecast overnight and into Monday, January 27th. Low-lying agricultural land and numerous roads are at risk, including Kingfisher Way, Forest Road, Monarch Way, Slash Lane (Sileby), the Mountsorrel to Sileby Road, B5328 Cossington Road, and the access road to Sileby Mill. Further areas of concern include Mill Lane and Water Lane (Frisby on the Wreake), Rearsby Road (Thrussington), Broome Lane (Ratcliffe on the Wreake), and Leicester Street in Melton Mowbray. The council advises against driving through floodwater and urges residents to monitor local radio and other media for travel updates. In addition to the flood warnings, Queen’s Park in Loughborough and the Outwoods will be closed on Monday, January 27th due to high winds. The council’s Planning Explorer website is also temporarily unavailable for online planning application comments; residents are asked to email comments to development.control@charnwood.gov.uk.
