Mon Jan 27 01:40:25 IST 2025: ## AAP Leader Durgesh Pathak Seeks Re-election in Rajinder Nagar

**New Delhi, January 27, 2025** – Durgesh Pathak, a rising star in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is seeking re-election in Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar constituency. Despite entering politics only in 2022, Mr. Pathak, 35, has been a key figure in AAP’s growth since its inception in 2012, currently serving as the youngest member of its Political Affairs Committee.

Initially a volunteer with no political background, Mr. Pathak’s involvement began with the India Against Corruption movement. He credits the movement with inspiring his foray into politics, highlighting his commitment to active public participation and strong institutions. His rapid ascent within AAP saw him spearheading campaigns in 35 constituencies in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, resulting in 34 wins for the party. He subsequently played a significant role in AAP’s expansion beyond Delhi, particularly contributing to the party’s success in Punjab.

As the incumbent MLA, Mr. Pathak highlights his efforts to improve basic amenities in Rajinder Nagar, focusing on drainage, water supply, community centers, roads, and parks. He utilizes a WhatsApp group, “Mohalla Sabha,” to maintain direct communication with over 18,000 constituents. However, he acknowledges the tragic drowning of three civil services aspirants last year due to flooding, attributing the incident partly to inadequate MCD functioning and calling for collaborative efforts to address the persistent drainage issues.

In the upcoming election, Mr. Pathak will face BJP’s Umang Bajaj and Congress’s Vineet Yadav. He accuses the BJP of attempting to undermine AAP, referencing the recent challenges faced by senior party leaders. He maintains his focus on serving the people of Rajinder Nagar and continuing AAP’s work in the constituency.
