**New Delhi, Jan 27, 2025** – Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has demanded an investigation into the alleged assault of a Congress candidate by an Election Commission official. Mr. Ramesh claims that on January 25th, an official attempted to stop Congress candidate Sushant Mishra’s foot march in Rithala and physically assaulted him. Despite Mr. Mishra having obtained police permission for the march, Mr. Ramesh accused both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the incident. He described the alleged actions as “partisan behavior” and an attempt to suppress the Congress campaign. Mr. Ramesh stated that the Congress will not be deterred and will continue to advocate for the people and the integrity of the elections. The incident comes amidst the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections in 2025.
