Sun Jan 26 23:50:00 IST 2025: **Eagles’ Goedert Ready for NFC Championship; Jurgens, Payne Questionable**
PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Eagles received a boost Friday as tight end Dallas Goedert (ankle) and center Cam Jurgens (back) returned to practice. Goedert declared himself “good to go” and is not listed on the injury report for Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders. Jurgens, however, was a limited participant and is listed as questionable. Landon Dickerson has been taking reps at center as a precaution.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts (knee) was a full participant and will play, though he expects to wear a knee brace. Two players ruled out on Injured Reserve, wide receiver Britain Covey (neck) and defensive tackle Byron Young (hamstring), also returned to practice. Covey’s absence means Cooper DeJean will continue punt return duties.
The Commanders face a more concerning injury situation. Defensive tackle Daron Payne, one of their most productive players, did not practice all week due to knee and finger injuries and is questionable. His absence would be a significant blow against the Eagles’ potent running game, particularly Saquon Barkley, who excelled in their previous matchups. Starting right guard Sam Cosmi (knee) is ruled out. Other Commanders players listed as questionable include reserve defensive end Javontae Jean-Baptiste (shoulder) and quarterback Jeff Driskel (illness). Linebackers Frankie Luvu (shoulder) and Bobby Wagner (ankle), and defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee) were limited in Friday’s practice but are not currently listed as questionable.
