**London, England** – Arsenal Women’s suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in a Barclays Women’s Super League clash. The game remained goalless until the 84th minute when Guro Reiten converted a penalty, awarded after a foul on Lauren James by Arsenal’s Kim Little. Arsenal’s Katie McCabe was subsequently sent off for dissent.

Despite facing early pressure from Chelsea, Arsenal created several chances throughout the match. Alessia Russo had a shot go wide, Beth Mead’s effort was deflected, and Emily Fox’s attempt was too weak to trouble the Chelsea keeper. Daphne van Domselaar, Arsenal’s goalkeeper, made several crucial saves, including a point-blank stop from Catarina Macario.

Arsenal made substitutions in the second half, bringing on Frida Maanum and Stina Blackstenius, but were unable to find a breakthrough. Maanum had a shot saved, and Blackstenius narrowly missed a chance to score. Despite a late surge, Arsenal couldn’t find an equalizer, leaving them third in the WSL table, 10 points behind Chelsea.

Arsenal now face Bristol City in the FA Cup and then Manchester City twice in the WSL and League Cup.
