**New Delhi, [Date of Publication]** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a stern warning to students and schools ahead of the Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled to begin February 15, 2025. In a notification to school principals, the board emphasized strict adherence to examination guidelines and highlighted severe penalties for violations.
The CBSE’s focus is on ensuring fair and transparent examinations. The notification reiterates existing rules against unfair means and introduces significant new penalties. Principals are urged to educate students thoroughly about examination ethics, rules, and penalties, even beyond the information provided on admit cards. This includes informing parents about the consequences of non-compliance.
Key guidelines for schools include briefing exam officials on their responsibilities, educating students about the examination policy and associated penalties, and discouraging the spread of disruptive rumors. Students are reminded to avoid bringing prohibited items to the examination center.
A significant addition to the Unfair Means Act (UFM) rules targets students spreading rumors that disrupt exams. Such actions will result in cancellation of the student’s exams for the current and subsequent year across all subjects. Students will only be eligible to reappear after that period.
Furthermore, a new Category-3 penalty under the UFM rules has been introduced, targeting the possession or use of any electronic communication device within the examination center. All violations must be supported by reports from invigilators or inspection staff.
The CBSE has stressed the importance of strict adherence to these guidelines by all stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the board exams. The full official notice can be found on the CBSE website.
