Mon Jan 27 18:01:57 UTC 2025: ## BJP Accuses Congress Leader of Insulting Hindu Faith

**NEW DELHI, January 28, 2025** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly making “anti-Sanatan” remarks about the Maha Kumbh, accusing him of insulting the Hindu faith.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra criticized Kharge’s comments questioning the significance of the Maha Kumbh, specifically targeting Kharge’s remarks about Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s participation. Patra highlighted the Kumbh’s global recognition and its deep-rooted importance within the Sanatan Dharma. He pointed to Kharge’s questioning of the Kumbh’s ability to alleviate poverty and improve the country, stating that such comments are unacceptable and demanded an apology from Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi.

Patra further accused Kharge of previously advocating for the elimination of Sanatan Dharma if the Congress party came to power. He contrasted Kharge’s remarks with the BJP’s respectful attitude towards other religious practices, citing Hajj pilgrimages as an example. The BJP emphasized the spiritual significance of the Ganga River and the Maha Kumbh, stating that criticizing it disrespects the faith of millions. The party called on the Congress to clarify its stance on the issue.
