**Belagavi, Karnataka –** Belagavi police have successfully rescued a five-year-old boy who was sold by a human trafficking ring operating across state lines. Three members of the gang, Sangeeta Hammannavar, Mohan Tawade, and Sangeeta Tawade, have been arrested. The arrests followed an investigation into the sale of the boy from Sultanpur village in Hukkeri taluk for ₹3.5 lakh. The investigation is ongoing, with two additional suspects, Nandakumar Doralekar and Nandini Doralekar, still at large.

The boy, whose mother Archana Magdum had remarried, was initially taken to Gadhinglaj, Maharashtra, under the pretense of receiving medical care. Instead, he was sold to the Doralekars. The case came to light when Magdum filed a complaint with Hukkeri police.

Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled stated that the police suspect a well-organized trafficking ring targeting vulnerable widows, exploiting their circumstances during second marriages to sell their children. This incident follows a recent arrest of four individuals involved in the sale of an infant under similar circumstances. The rescued boy is currently in the care of a child care center. The investigation is being led by Inspector M.K. Basappa.
