**KOCHI, January 27, 2025** – Union Christian College in Aluva has been granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), a significant achievement for the century-old institution. This autonomy allows the college to design its own academic programs, conduct examinations, and publish results, while maintaining its affiliation with Mahatma Gandhi University.
The UGC’s decision recognizes the college’s strong academic record, including its achievements in curriculum, extracurricular activities, and research. College Manager K.P. Ouseph and Principal Mini Alice stated that the autonomy will foster research and enhance job prospects for students. This follows the college’s recent success in securing an A++ grade and a 3.53 score in the fifth cycle of accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
