Sun Jan 26 17:10:00 UTC 2025: **Hyderabad, India (January 26, 2025):** A spectacular fire engulfed two boats on Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad last night, injuring three people. The incident occurred after a fireworks display concluded the “Bharat Mata Maha Harati” event at People’s Plaza grounds.
The fireworks, launched from two boats belonging to the Telangana Tourism Department, ignited a larger fire when sparks landed back on the boats, which were carrying a substantial quantity of fireworks. Seven people were on board at the time; three sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The remaining four escaped unharmed.
Firefighters responded swiftly to the scene and extinguished the blaze, preventing further damage. The two boats were completely destroyed. The event itself, organized by the Bharat Mata Foundation, was attended by Telangana Governor Vishnudas Varma, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, and other dignitaries.
This incident follows other reported fires in the city, including one at a Mahindra showroom in Kondapur, where 14 cars were damaged, and another at a restaurant in Madhapur.
