Sun Jan 26 17:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Three Injured in Hussain Sagar Boat Fire During Fireworks Display
**Hyderabad, Telangana, India –** A spectacular fireworks display following the “Bharat Mata Maha Harati” event at People’s Plaza grounds on Necklace Road ended in disaster Sunday night when a fire erupted on two boats carrying fireworks in Hussain Sagar Lake.
The event, organized by the Bharat Mata Foundation, was attended by Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, and several other dignitaries. After the program concluded, two boats belonging to the Telangana Tourism Department, carrying fireworks, were positioned in the middle of Hussain Sagar Lake for the planned display.
During the fireworks, stray embers ignited the remaining fireworks on board, causing a major fire that completely engulfed both boats. Seven people were on the boats at the time; three sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Four others escaped unharmed.
Firefighters responded swiftly to the scene and brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation. This incident follows other fire-related events in the city, including a fire at a Mahindra showroom in Kondapur that destroyed 14 cars, and a restaurant fire in Madhapur that led to customer evacuations.
