Sat Jan 25 20:05:09 UTC 2025: ## Indonesia’s President to be Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day Parade

**New Delhi, January 25** – India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day on Sunday with a grand parade featuring Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the Chief Guest. President Subianto, on his first visit to India since assuming office in October 2024, will be attending at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Over 10,000 special guests, described as “architects of ‘Swarnim Bharat’ (Golden India),” will witness the event at Kartavya Path. These guests represent various fields and successful beneficiaries of government schemes.

The celebrations will highlight 75 years of the Indian Constitution and citizen participation (“Jan Bhagidari”). The parade will showcase India’s cultural diversity, unity, development, and military strength, including 31 tableaux on the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development) and a cultural performance by 5,000 artists.

A contingent of 152 members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, along with a 190-member military band, will participate in the parade, which begins at 10:30 am and will last approximately 90 minutes. President Droupadi Murmu and President Subianto will arrive in a traditional buggy.

Earlier, President Subianto met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, discussing India’s parliamentary system and receiving a copy of the Indian Constitution and a Parliament House replica. Past Republic Day chief guests have included leaders from Japan, the US, France, the UAE, and several other countries. The 2021 and 2022 celebrations were scaled back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
