**Washington, D.C./New Delhi –** The United States extended warm wishes to India on its 76th Republic Day, highlighting the enduring significance of India’s democracy and the burgeoning strategic partnership between the two nations. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a statement, declared the US-India relationship “the defining relationship of the 21st century,” emphasizing its continued growth.

Rubio’s statement congratulated the Indian people and lauded the Indian Constitution as the bedrock of the world’s largest democracy. He stressed the importance of deepening US-India cooperation, particularly within the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) – comprising the US, India, Japan, and Australia – to foster a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. This emphasis was reinforced earlier this week when Secretary Rubio hosted a Quad ministerial meeting, focusing on strengthening economic ties and ensuring regional peace and security.

The statement further highlighted the administration’s commitment to advancing economic ties with India and addressing issues such as irregular migration.
