Sun Jan 26 01:10:00 UTC 2025: **Visakhapatnam Police Arrest Seven for Robbing Welder After Luring Him Through Fake Romance**

VISAKHAPATNAM, [Date] – Visakhapatnam police have arrested a seven-member gang for robbing a welder after luring him into a fake romance. The victim, Munja Ramarao (38), from Patapatnam in Srikakulam district, was robbed of ₹50,000 and his cell phone.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Latha Madhuri, the incident occurred on January 19th. Ramarao was contacted by Kuppili Asarani (34) from Kancharapalem, who feigned interest in him. She arranged a meeting at a school near Peddipalem in Anandapuram mandal. At the meeting point, six individuals on motorcycles abducted Ramarao, took him to a deserted area in Bheemunipatnam mandal, assaulted him, and robbed him.

Four days later, Ramarao filed a complaint with Bheemunipatnam police. Following an investigation, police apprehended the seven accused: Bangari Chakra Dheer (37), a known rowdy-sheeter; Inti Suresh (30); Dola Lakshmana Rao (27); Mulaparti Venkatesh (29); Kuppili Asarani (34); Vasupalli Shyam Prakash (30); and Barika Swami (24). Lakshmana Rao was recently released from prison after being accused of murdering his parents.

Police stated that Chakra Dheer, an acquaintance of Asarani, advised her to use the fake romance to lure the victim. The DCP commended the North Sub-division crime police team for their swift action in solving the case. The accused are currently in jail.
