Sun Jan 26 11:52:12 UTC 2025: ## Pie Heir Jailed for Life After Christmas Eve Murder of Best Friend

**Cardiff, Wales** – Dylan Thomas, 24, heir to the Peter’s Pies fortune, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of his best friend, William Bush, 23. The attack, described as “barbaric and cruel” by Bush’s family, occurred on Christmas Eve 2023 at the home the two men shared in Llandaff, Cardiff.

Thomas stabbed Bush 37 times with a large kitchen knife and a flick knife. Hours before the murder, he conducted online searches for the anatomy of the neck, a detail that contributed to the prosecution’s case of premeditated murder. While admitting to manslaughter, Thomas denied murder. The prosecution argued the attack, which took place in Bush’s bedroom, was planned.

The court heard Thomas had been exhibiting erratic behaviour in the weeks leading up to the murder, including an arrest for attempting to climb the fence at Buckingham Palace. On the day of the killing, he was driven to the house by his grandmother. After the attack, Thomas called emergency services, falsely claiming Bush had attacked him.

Witnesses reported hearing screams from the house. Bush’s family, including his sister Catrin and father John, gave harrowing testimony detailing the devastating impact of the loss. His girlfriend, Ella Jefferies, described him as “the love of my life.”

Thomas’s defense argued he was suffering from psychosis, citing evidence suggesting mental instability in the months prior to the murder. Following his arrest, he reportedly claimed to be Jesus. The Crown Prosecution Service condemned the attack as “a shocking level of violence,” while South Wales Police described it as an “unprovoked betrayal.”

The Thomas family, who founded the renowned Peter’s Pies in the 1950s, sold their company, Peter’s Food, in 1988. The family’s wealth could not prevent the life sentence handed down for this horrific Christmas Eve crime.
