**Chennai, January 26, 2025** – Tamil Nadu celebrated its 76th Republic Day today with a grand parade along Chennai’s Marina Beach. However, the day’s events were marked by a notable absence: DMK leader Vijay will reportedly not attend the Governor’s Republic Day tea party.

Governor R.N. Ravi hoisted the national flag at a ceremony near the Labour Statue on Marina Beach, receiving a traditional “pasumai koodai” (green basket) from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The Governor subsequently accepted the parade of the three armed forces.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan naval forces arrested 33 fishermen from Rameswaram for allegedly crossing the maritime boundary. 18 fishermen in two boats were apprehended last night, and 15 more in a single boat this morning.
