**New Delhi** – India celebrated its 76th Republic Day today with a grand parade showcasing the nation’s cultural diversity, unity, and military strength. The event, held on Kartavya Path, commemorated 75 years of the Indian Constitution’s enactment and emphasized the theme of “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development).
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto served as the chief guest, joined by 10,000 “architects of Swarnim Bharat,” individuals recognized for their contributions across various fields and successful participation in government schemes.
The parade featured 31 tableaux from 16 states and union territories, central ministries, and the armed forces. Notable tableaux included:
* **Madhya Pradesh:** Highlighted the successful reintroduction of cheetahs.
* **Jharkhand:** Showcased the legacy of late industrialist Ratan Tata.
* **Uttar Pradesh:** Celebrated the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
* **Andhra Pradesh:** Showcased the 400-year-old Etikoppaka wooden toy craft.
* **Veterans:** Paid tribute to the unwavering spirit of veteran officers, including women officers representing “Nari Shakti.”
* **Department of Financial Services:** Showcased India’s financial evolution, from traditional money lenders to UPI.
* **Delhi:** Focused on quality education for the youth.
* **Karnataka:** Featured “Lakkundi: Cradle of Stone Craft.”
* **Navy:** Depicted a self-reliant navy protecting India’s maritime interests.
* **Central Public Works Department:** Showcased a floral tableau celebrating 75 years of the Constitution.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the day by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. President Droupadi Murmu, alongside President Subianto, then unfurled the national flag. The Republic Day celebrations underscored India’s progress and commitment to its citizens’ participation in nation-building.
