Sun Jan 26 03:09:52 UTC 2025: ## Indonesia’s Prabowo Subianto to be Chief Guest at India’s 76th Republic Day Parade
**New Delhi, India** – India will celebrate its 76th Republic Day on January 26th, 2025, with a grand parade featuring Indonesian Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto as the Chief Guest. The parade, themed “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development), will commemorate 75 years of the Indian Constitution and emphasize “Jan Bhagidari” (people’s participation).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Subianto, praising the strong India-Indonesia relationship forged during their shared struggles for independence. Subianto, in turn, described India as a “very great friend” and expressed commitment to closer cooperation. His visit follows reports that he cancelled a planned trip to Pakistan after India reportedly voiced concerns.
The parade, starting at 10:30 AM at Vijay Chowk, will proceed along Kartavya Path, past India Gate, and end at the Red Fort. It will include a ceremonial march past by the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, and contingents from Indonesia, comprising a 160-member marching contingent and a 190-member band. Thirty-one tableaux from various states, union territories, and government ministries will showcase India’s cultural diversity. Three school bands from Jharkhand, Sikkim, and Karnataka will also make their debut. The event will conclude with a flypast of 47 aircraft.
Tickets for the parade are available online through the Ministry of Defence’s Amantran Portal and at designated counters in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will receive the salute during the parade, which will also see Prime Minister Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. While Subianto’s past human rights allegations have been reported, his presence underscores the strengthening ties between the two nations.
