**New Delhi, January 26, 2025** – India celebrated its 76th Republic Day today with a spectacular parade down Kartavya Path, featuring a display of military might and a vibrant showcase of the nation’s diverse cultural heritage. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto served as the chief guest for the event, marking the occasion’s significance as the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution’s enactment.

President Droupadi Murmu took the salute at the parade, led by Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar. The parade included contingents from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as tableaux representing various states, ministries, and organizations. This year’s theme, “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development), highlighted India’s rich cultural legacy alongside its progress and achievements.

Tableaux depicted diverse aspects of Indian life, from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and the historic temples of Lakkundi to the Lakhpati Didi scheme empowering women and the advancements in weather forecasting technology. A tri-services tableau showcased the growing synergy among India’s armed forces, and the Central Public Works Department’s tableau commemorated the Constitution’s 75th anniversary. Over 5000 folk and tribal artists performed 45 different dance forms, creating a memorable cultural spectacle.

The celebrations extended beyond Delhi, with state-level events held across the country. Governors and Chief Ministers extended Republic Day greetings, highlighting achievements in various sectors, including women’s empowerment schemes, foreign direct investment, and efforts towards resolving the Naga Political Issue. Multiple gallantry awards were announced, recognizing the bravery of Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces personnel.

The day also witnessed the return of a traditional horse-drawn buggy carrying President Murmu and President Subianto to Kartavya Path, a practice revived last year after a 40-year hiatus. The event was marked by the enthusiastic participation of the Indian diaspora at missions abroad. The Google Doodle celebrated the occasion with a unique wildlife parade, further symbolizing India’s unity and national pride.
