Sun Jan 26 03:09:53 UTC 2025: ## Indonesia’s President Headlines India’s 76th Republic Day Celebration
**New Delhi, India** – India celebrated its 76th Republic Day today with a grand parade along Kartavya Path, featuring Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the Chief Guest. Over 70,000 police personnel were deployed across Delhi to ensure security for the event, which attracted thousands of spectators and 10,000 special guests.
The parade, starting at 10:30 am, showcased 31 tableaux representing various states and services under the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development). A notable first was the inclusion of a tri-service tableau highlighting the joint operations of the Indian Armed Forces. The Indonesian National Armed Forces also participated in a march-past, adding an international dimension to the celebrations. More than 5,000 artists performed a cultural spectacle along the entire length of Kartavya Path.
The day’s events began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial to honor fallen heroes. President Droupadi Murmu and President Subianto arrived at Kartavya Path in a traditional buggy, a practice revived in 2024. Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar led the parade, which lasted approximately 90 minutes.
The celebrations extended beyond Delhi, with events like flag hoisting ceremonies across the country and vibrant rangolis adding to the festive atmosphere. Messages of goodwill and reflection on India’s democratic values were shared by officials including President Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan, emphasizing the significance of the Constitution and the sacrifices made for India’s freedom. A delegation from Indonesia even sang a Bollywood song at a banquet hosted by President Murmu.
The Republic Day parade marked the 76th anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution in 1950, a day commemorating the nation’s transition to a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. The event was widely covered, with a Google Doodle celebrating India’s rich culture and diversity.
