Over 10,000 special guests, including Kargil war heroes, witnessed the parade, which included 31 tableaux representing various states and services under the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development). Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the day by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial, paying tribute to fallen soldiers. He then joined the celebrations at Kartavya Path. International singer Mary Millben added to the festivities by singing the Indian national anthem.
This year’s parade also marked the participation of two Param Vir Chakra awardees and an Ashok Chakra awardee, all Kargil war heroes.
