Sat Jan 25 15:03:05 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Congress Accuses AAP of Defamation in Election Complaint

**New Delhi, [Date]** – The Delhi Congress has filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) published a defamatory poster on X (formerly Twitter) targeting senior Congress leaders. The poster, headlined “Ek akela padega sab par bhaari” (“One alone will outweigh all”), featured a picture of AAP Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal captioned “Kejriwal ki imaandari” (“Kejriwal’s honesty”), juxtaposed with images of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Ajay Maken, and Sandeep Dikshit, labeled “sare beimano par padegi bhaari” (“will outweigh all the dishonest”).

The Congress complaint argues that the post violates the Model Code of Conduct and the Representation of the People Act, 1951. It alleges the post is a malicious attempt to gain political advantage by falsely portraying Kejriwal as honest and the Congress leaders as dishonest, especially in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5th. The Congress also cited the recent imprisonment of several AAP leaders as evidence contradicting the party’s claim of honesty. They urged the ECI to order the removal of the post and take appropriate action against AAP. The counting of votes will take place on February 8th.
