Sun Jan 26 14:12:32 UTC 2025: ## Police Shoot Suspect After Attack During Cow Slaughter Investigation
**Belagavi, Karnataka, January 26, 2025** – Police in Uttara Kannada district shot a suspect, Kasarakod Faizan, after he attacked officers during an investigation into a cow slaughter case. The incident occurred Sunday near Honnavar, in the Duggur area.
Faizan, already arrested in connection with the Kondakuli cow slaughter, attacked Police Inspector P. Siddarameshwara, Sub-Inspector Rajashekar Vandali, and officers Gajanana Nayak and Ganesh Badni while being taken to the scene to recover the murder weapons. Police fired upon Faizan in self-defense.
Both the accused and the injured officers are receiving medical treatment. Another suspect, Malkiya Taufik, has also been arrested, while two others remain at large. A ₹50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to their arrest, according to Superintendent of Police M. Narayana. Over 400 individuals have been questioned in the ongoing investigation.
