Sun Jan 26 16:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Wahlberg Takes on Villainous Role in New Thriller “Flight Risk”
**Los Angeles, CA** – Mark Wahlberg is back on the big screen, but this time he’s playing the bad guy. In the new thriller *Flight Risk*, directed by Mel Gibson, Wahlberg portrays a hitman disguised as a pilot who terrorizes U.S. Marshal Madelyn (Michelle Dockery) and fugitive Winston (Topher Grace) aboard a small plane in the Alaskan wilderness.
Wahlberg, known for his typically heroic roles, embraced the challenge of playing the villain, immersing himself in the character to the point of being somewhat withdrawn on set. “I was locked into the part the whole time,” he revealed. He spent much of his off-screen time alone, methodically staying in character. This marks his first villainous role since 1996’s *Fear*.
The film, shot in just 22 days, sees Wahlberg’s character engaging in intense physical and verbal confrontations with Dockery and Grace throughout the flight. He cited classic cinematic villains like Jack Nicholson in *The Shining* as inspiration for his performance. Gibson sent Wahlberg the script without specifying a role, prompting Wahlberg to choose to play the antagonist himself.
*Flight Risk* is now playing in theaters.
