Sun Jan 26 01:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Former AEW Star Mark Henry Slams Hobbs’ Booking After Title Loss

**LAS VEGAS, NV** – Former AEW star Mark Henry expressed his frustration with the company’s handling of Powerhouse Hobbs following his recent loss to Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Henry, who considers Hobbs a close friend and mentee (“He calls me dad,” Henry revealed), criticized both the timing of the save by Adam Copeland and FTR, and the overall booking strategy for Hobbs.

Henry stated his belief that the delay in Copeland and FTR’s arrival to assist Hobbs during the post-match attack was detrimental. He also voiced concern over Hobbs suffering two significant title match losses, stating, “He could’ve came out a lot better and it would’ve been better for them — they would’ve made money.” Henry emphasized his disappointment, saying, “I hope I never hate somebody so much that I would rather see them fail on my TV than to have them win and be successful on my TV. It’s a damn shame.”

Hobbs, returning from a knee injury in November, has been involved in a storyline revolving around his past association with The Don Callis Family. This culminated in a loss to Konosuke Takeshita at AEW Worlds End before he earned his title shot via a Casino Gauntlet victory. Despite this recent momentum, Henry’s comments highlight a growing concern over Hobbs’ future prospects within AEW. (H/t to Wrestling Inc. for transcription of Busted Open Radio quotes).
