**Dubai, UAE** – India’s cricket stars dominated the ICC Awards 2024, with Rohit Sharma named captain of the Men’s T20I Team of the Year and Arshdeep Singh winning the coveted Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award. The announcement, made Saturday, follows India’s triumphant T20 World Cup victory last year.

Sharma, who led India to World Cup glory before retiring from the T20 format, amassed 378 runs in 11 matches in 2024, including three half-centuries. His impressive strike rate of over 160 solidified his place in the team of the year, alongside teammates Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya.

Singh, instrumental in India’s World Cup win, was recognized for his outstanding bowling performance throughout the year. The 25-year-old left-arm pacer finished as India’s leading wicket-taker with 36 scalps in 18 matches, boasting an average of just 15.31 and an economy rate of 7.49. His memorable performances included a 4/9 against the USA in the group stage and a crucial 2/20 in the final against South Africa.

Further celebrating Indian success, Smriti Mandhana was named in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year, alongside Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma.

The awards, determined by a global panel of media representatives, fans, and the ICC Voting Academy, will continue to be announced over the next three days.
