Sat Jan 25 18:16:26 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Opens Dedicated Desk to Attract Swiss, EFTA Investments

**Hyderabad, India – January 26, 2025** – The Telangana government has established a dedicated desk within the Invest Telangana cell to streamline investments from Switzerland and other European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. The announcement was made by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at a TEPA Investment event in Zurich on January 24th.

This initiative comes on the heels of the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) signed between India and EFTA (comprising Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) in March 2024. With TEPA’s expected ratification and implementation this year, Telangana aims to capitalize on the increased investment opportunities.

The state government plans to actively engage with EFTA countries through their embassies, trade missions, and Indian missions abroad. Minister Babu highlighted Telangana’s strong position in IT and life sciences, noting the existing presence of major Swiss companies like Novartis, Roche, UBS, and Swiss Re in Hyderabad.

EFTA countries have pledged approximately €100 billion in investment in India over the next 15 years, with the potential to create 1 million jobs. The Zurich event served to promote TEPA and showcase Telangana’s attractiveness to Swiss businesses. The state is focused on attracting investment in sectors such as aerospace and defense, electronics, energy storage, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing.
