**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – January 26, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh Ministry of Tourism has announced a ₹177 crore investment to develop two major tourism projects: the Akhanda Godavari project and the Gandikota tourism circuit. The funding comes from the Central government’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh revealed that tenders for both projects, to be executed under a Public Private People Partnership (PPPP) model, will be released within a week. The Akhanda Godavari project, with an estimated budget of ₹98 crore, will focus on developing the Havelock bridge in Rajamahendravaram into a tourist attraction, including a glass-sheet walkway, restaurants, a tent city, and boat services along the Godavari river. The project will also enhance the Kadiyam flower nurseries and aims for completion before the Godavari Pushkarams in 2027.
The ₹79 crore Gandikota tourism circuit will concentrate on improving hospitality and beautifying the 12th-century Gandikota Fort and gorge in Y.S.R. Kadapa district. Further plans include developing resorts around the Srisailam temple and promoting tourism in the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve.
