Sun Jan 26 05:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Surprise Family Reunion? Comedians Bill Burr and Billy Corgan Explore (Alleged) Half-Brotherhood on Podcast
**LOS ANGELES –** A surprise guest appearance on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast turned into an unexpected – and hilarious – family reunion (of sorts) this week. Comedian Bill Burr and Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Billy Corgan, who had previously speculated about a possible half-brotherhood, finally met face-to-face.
The theory originated about a decade ago when Corgan’s stepmother suggested Burr might be one of his father’s children from his days as a traveling musician. Corgan revealed this on Mandel’s podcast months ago.
Mandel orchestrated the reunion, bringing Corgan onto the set during Burr’s interview. Burr’s initial reaction was playful exasperation, questioning why Corgan had ever publicly floated the idea. The comedians engaged in good-natured ribbing, with Burr playfully teasing Corgan about his Chicago Cubs fandom.
Despite the initial surprise and playful bickering, the two eventually had a more serious conversation about their fathers, touching upon the complexities of their relationships. While Burr initially expressed skepticism, by the end of the podcast, he jokingly declared that he and Corgan shared the same father. Corgan playfully countered with a jab at Burr’s lack of singing ability.
This unexpected family reunion follows a similar revelation earlier this year by actor Matthew McConaughey, who suggested he and Woody Harrelson may be half-brothers. McConaughey, however, remains hesitant to pursue a DNA test to confirm the possibility.
Burr’s new comedy special, “Drop Dead Years,” premieres on Hulu March 14. He will also perform a benefit show with Shane Gillis in Los Angeles on Monday.
