Karimnagar, Telangana – Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has asserted that the central government will not allocate houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Telangana if they are named after Indira Gandhi. Speaking at a meeting in Karimnagar on Saturday, following the defection of Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao from the BRS to the BJP, Mr. Sanjay stated that houses provided under the PMAY scheme cannot be named “Indiramma Illu,” a reference to a Congress government housing scheme.

He further demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s picture be included alongside Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on new ration cards, questioning the distribution of free rice without the PM’s image. He suggested an alternative: direct distribution of rice and housing by the central government.

Mr. Sanjay accused Chief Minister Reddy of shielding BRS leaders from investigations related to phone tapping, the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, and Formula E Race irregularities. He credited the Modi government with Karimnagar’s development under the Smart City Mission, alleging corruption and misappropriation of funds by the previous BRS regime.
