**Bengaluru, January 26, 2025** – The Central Silk Board (CSB) awarded a certificate of appreciation to N.B. Chowdary, Director of the Central Tasar Research and Training Institute in Ranchi, for his significant contributions to the expansion of tasar silk research and related activities. The award was presented on Sunday at a function in Bengaluru.
Chowdary attributed the recognition to the collaborative efforts of the institute’s scientists, officers, and employees. The CSB statement highlighted the substantial scale of the tasar silk industry, noting that approximately 3.5 lakh individuals are involved, with a significant majority (2.22 lakh) residing in Jharkhand.
