**Vellore, Tamil Nadu – January 26, 2025** – Four districts in Tamil Nadu – Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, and Tirupattur – are on high alert for Republic Day celebrations, with approximately 2,800 police officers deployed to ensure security. Celebrations will include cultural performances by students, distribution of government welfare benefits, and the awarding of Chief Minister’s Police Medals. Freedom fighters will also be honored.
Security measures are extensive, including heightened surveillance at key checkpoints and the deployment of anti-sabotage teams at vital locations like railway stations, bus terminals, and places of worship. Sniffer dogs are being used to inspect baggage at major railway stations and bus terminals. The police have conducted surprise inspections, such as those at Katpadi railway station in Vellore. Authorities stated that the public is welcome to participate in the celebrations held at parade grounds and government school playgrounds.
