Sun Jan 26 10:43:50 UTC 2025: ## Congress Slams BJP on Republic Day, Accuses Party of Undermining Constitution

**Bengaluru, January 26, 2025** – Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Republic Day, accusing the party of undermining the Constitution and insulting its architect, B.R. Ambedkar. Addressing party workers in Bengaluru, Kharge called BJP leaders “dwellers of hell,” claiming they did nothing for India’s independence or economic and social progress.

Kharge specifically criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for alleged insulting remarks about Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha. He cited Shah’s statement linking praising Ambedkar to heavenly reward, contrasting it with the BJP’s alleged lack of contribution to the nation’s founding and development.

The Congress leader also disputed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim of striving to make India the third-largest economy, arguing that the BJP government had actually lowered India’s economic ranking. He further accused the BJP of neglecting the poor while favoring the wealthy and powerful, and of eroding citizens’ rights, particularly those of women.

Kharge highlighted the Congress party’s role in India’s independence and its commitment to upholding the Constitution. He condemned the BJP’s alleged attacks on constitutional values, federalism, and independent institutions, including universities and the media. He also criticized the BJP’s handling of the ongoing Manipur conflict.

Looking ahead, Kharge announced plans for a large-scale Congress event in Indore on January 27th, focusing on Gandhi, Ambedkar, and the Constitution, aiming to highlight what he views as the BJP’s failings. His statement emphasized the need to protect the Constitution and its values against what he characterized as continuous attacks from the ruling party.
