Sun Jan 26 22:10:00 IST 2025: ## PM-KISAN Scheme Likely to Get a Boost in Budget 2025
**New Delhi:** India’s upcoming Union Budget 2025, to be presented on February 1st, is expected to include significant announcements, with a key focus on the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. The scheme, launched in 2019, currently provides eligible farmers with ₹6,000 annually in three installments of ₹2,000 each. After distributing 18 installments totaling over ₹3.46 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers, the 19th installment is anticipated post-budget.
Speculation is rife that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may announce a substantial increase in the annual benefit, potentially doubling it from ₹6,000 to ₹12,000. This move is reportedly being considered to address inflationary concerns and provide further relief to farmers.
While the 19th installment’s disbursement date remains unconfirmed, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hinted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might distribute the funds during a visit to Bihar on February 24th. Regardless of the distribution date, the budget is expected to clarify the future of the PM-KISAN scheme and whether the increase will be implemented.
